WAITING FOR A WII. OR PS3.

Our plan was to ask a friend in the US to pick up one of the new games consoles for us this holiday season. Somehow don't think we'll be getting it.

The top photo is gamers in Alaska lining up for 24 hours in way-below-zero weather for a ticket enabling them to buy a Nintendo Wii when it's released this month. The bottom photo is gamers lining up NINE days before the release of the PS3...

We thought we were into video gaming, but this is getting ridiculous.

JUST IN TIME FOR RAINY SEASON.

From the latest COMPLEX mag guide. Collab between TIMBERLAND and SUPREME.

Latest issue of Complex available in 707ANNEX. (Also might have some back issues too...)

UPDATE: LATEST ISSUE IS SOLD OUT.

DIRTY SOUTH.

Just got sent this photo by one of the crew who's currently driving through the southern USA. Manages to reinforce the Southern stereotype in one shot...

TOYS, TOYS, TOYS.

love the Mishka Dunny with sack o' cash

Now on sale in 707 (Kemang) and 707ANNEX (CiToS), are lots of new arrivals from KIDROBOT. We are the ONLY official Kidrobot partner in Indonesia.

The latest Dunny Series 3 again features many of the world's best graphic designers showing their creative skills. Already sold out in Kidrobot's stores across the USA, we're one of the few places with sealed blind boxes left. Anywhere. Unlike Singapore, we don't do cheesy stuff like open up all the boxes and take the rare ones to sell on ebay (the Abe Lincoln Jr. and Feric dunny's are going for big bucks on ebay)... For this series they've also hidden a few golden tickets in random boxes which win a special 8" Dunny by Tado. In addition we also have 3 pieces of the hard-to-find Gold Dunny T-shirts at 707 Kemang.

Abe Lincoln Jr. Dunny

Frank Kozik's Mongers are back. We have a very limited number of boxes left. In addition we have two different designs of Kozik x Kidrobot Monger T's available at 707ANNEX. We have very, very few of these so be quick.

Fatcaps have arrived. Covered in designs by famous graf artists from around the world and designed by the infamous Montana Colours of Spain, these even rattle when you shake 'em... If you're lucky you might find the design by Tilt (currently on ebay for US$150!) which also wins you a free Tilt print.

Fatcap by Tilt

Mmmmm... Donutzzz. People are going crazy over these like cops at Krispy Kreme (for our foreign readers, yes, we have Krispy Kreme in Jakarta!). Only been in store for a couple of days and stocks are running low... Some are flocked, some plain, some with sprinkles, impossible not to love these. Blind boxed so you don't know what you're getting until you open it up - they come with a chain attached and can be used as a keychain, hung off a bag, or we've been seeing a few used as necklaces...

We've also restocked artist Dalek's Icebot 10" figures. These come packaged in the refrigerator box and are a classic...

Lots more coming soon...

AMBUSH AND SURRENDER.

great minds think alike, Earn avoids the lens

Alvin in the ground floor gallery

The Far East era is over. Earn, Alvin and the crew from AMBUSH and SURRENDER have moved from their old digs to a newly renovated shophouse on the other side of Ngee Ann City. So far only the downstairs gallery and store spaces on the first floor are open, but a cafe is under construction with an outdoor area to keep those addicted to nicotine happy...

The first floor is split into two halves, the white half contains Ambush, the black half is Surrender.

hmmm... hanging rails look familiar...

The space looks good, with the usual selection of exclusive brands including Surrender, Neighbourhood, aNYthing and Original Fake. They even had a few of Kaws' dissected companions in stock - unfortunately we arrived too late to grab one... Still the coolest store in Singapore.

don't forget to hold one for us Alvin...

Look out for some new exhibitions coming soon in the ground floor gallery.

Surrender's fall line is in 707 Kemang. Exclusive to 707 in Indonesia.

SBTG'S CIRCUS PROJECT.

Dropped by to hang out with SBTG and Alvin at the PHUNKSTUDIO, well, studio. Caught a quick peek of the Mark's new project for BROOKLYN CIRCUS, a set of custom Air Force Ones in their very early stages. 707's colours black and pink seem to be conquering the world these days... Keep an eye out for these to be released soon - not quite as rare as the SBTG x 707's but still should disappear pretty fast...

Just thought I'd add this shot of PHUNKSTUDIO doing their thang for STARHUB in Dhoby Ghaut MRT station... Designers ARE the new supermodels.

VIVO SINGAPORE.

Forget parks, what Singaporeans really want is more malls. VIVOCITY is the latest, largest and worst-named of the city's shopping complexes. Unfortunately still no exciting shopping to be done here, with the same bland selection of chain stores seen elsewhere around the city, including the first GAP (yawn) in the region.

The only reason we bothered writing a post about it is the upstairs FOOD REPUBLIC food court, which has one of the more interesting interiors we've seen in a while. Themed to look like a Chinese back alley, with a selection of some of the best stalls in Singapore, it's got nice attention to detail, lighting and use of materials. Almost made going to VIVOCITY worth the trip.

TATTY AT THE TATE.

On September 23rd TATTY DEVINE held down the do-it-yourself fiesta at London's famous Tate Museum as part of the TATE LOUD exhibition program. This is a series of events used to promote individuality and creativity while raising social awareness of current happenings around the world.

Harriet and Rosie (founders and owners of Tatty Devine) were also present, geared to fly to the moon with their super-cool astronaut outfits - the new TD clothing line?

Crowds were able to choose 3 items for FREE which would then be made into a necklace, bracelet or keychain. Each item had a meaning, with items including a gun, peace sign, daisy, heart, tank, dove and more... for your imagination to go wild with... Free Tatty Devine was the order of the day.

the bomb seems more popular than the dove...

The eccentric 'nuclear-plant-astro-futuristic' Devine crew made this an incredibly colourful and unique event. Hopefully we can do something similar in Jakarta too?

Just a reminder, a new shipment of Tatty Devine is exclusively available in 707 now - each piece is ordered in limited numbers and already selling fast... New stock includes pieces from this season's collection 'Intergalactic Hedgerows'.

THE VEYRON PART II.

After our previous POST showcasing what we thought was the world's ugliest BUGATTI, we now stand corrected. Not sure if Nigo (head honcho of A Bathing Ape) read our blog, but it seems he decided to take up the challenge to make one even uglier and easily succeeded. You know 707 normally loves pink but this is sort of how I'd imagine a car would look if Hello Kitty threw up over it.

Nigo already did something similar to his Rolls Royce Phantom.

SPALDING'S BALLS.

I guess technology affects everything. Even balls. After 35 years of using traditional leather basketballs, the NBA has now changed to using a brand new microfiber ball by SPALDING which is already producing some serious backlash from the players.

One of the traits of the 'old' leather balls was the slight variations between one another. The new balls are allegedly all identical. They only look slightly different, a brighter orange and only two interlocking panels, but it's the 'velvet' texture that is producing controversy. Supposedly it's slicker when wet, harder to handle and gives a slightly different bounce.

We haven't handled one yet, but Stephen Marbury of the Knicks already griped that "the new balls all feel the same - they all feel bad", and Shaq has grumbled; "it feels like one of those cheap balls you buy at a toy store".

Our take? Sad to see the traditional ball go, but good players will still be good, bad players will still be bad. You don't see street ballers bitching about the ball - give them a big rock painted orange and the good ones will still dunk your ass.

PSSST. WANNA BUY AN SBTG CUSTOM?

SBTG x 707 "Juvenile Delinquent" Dunk with custom box.

People keep asking whether we have any more of the SBTG Custom "Juvenile Delinquent" Dunks (or the 'package') that were made for our 707ANNEX event...

C'mon, everyone knows we sold out... or did we?...

Ok, we admit it. We did keep one package for ourselves in our secret underground vault;

1 SBTG x 707 Custom Dunk (sz 9)
1 Nike SBTG Dunk SB (sz 9)
1 Nike SBTG special edition reversible Tee (L)

We kept this to be used for display in the store, but will put it on sale later in November! For info on where and how, keep checking this site and your inside info emails.

All other pairs sold out immediately, BUT, one size 10.5 has been held but not paid for - if you're interested, email us! (This is not a package, only the SBTG Custom.)

CHILI-IN' AT WENDY'S.

mmmm... seriously - what the hell is this?

SBTG's got guts. probably literally, in the cup.

Not quite sure what the fuss is all about, but seems like Wendy's chili has a lot of fans. Mark (SBTG) was craving it since the minute he landed (no Wendy's in Singapore), and it was the only place he wanted go for brunch the day after the Dunk launch...

No one else at the table would take him up on his attempts to make us try some (we're smart enough to be wary of anything made of random, unrecognizable substances in Jakarta), but 707 crew have been telling me since that it's got a loyal local following...

MISCHIEF IN LONDON.

ovelia (707) one ups the souls with an extra finger.

On Monday 23rd October 2006 (happy b'day Kezia!!!!) a real Hip Hop hurricane was brewing in cold and rainy Camden town. Live straight from Oakland, CA was the infinite SOULS OF MISCHIEF with DJ FLUX on the 1 and 2. Right from the get-go the beats were making the crowd, predominantly white - we thought we're in a Kenny Rogers' jam or something - bounce and roll up and down and even sideways.

Opio, Tajai and A-plus were kickin' it old school with their cool and lyrical rhymes Oakland style. The main shit was when the classic 93 till' infinity was blasting, and everyone just went nuts. Check them up on their own label website HIEROGLYPHICS.com. They have been doing it independently for 10 years now - so independendent that after the show, Tajai (one of the MC's) was in their concession stand selling T shirts and cd's. Now that's some ill independent!

JORDAN & TINKER. LONDON.

A few shots of the dynamic duo when they were in London, taken by our intrepid undercover reporter, Bergas. Unfortunately no signing session - even name-dropping 707 somehow didn't work... Funny how it never seems to help...

For more shots, check FOOTURAMA.

PAUL SMITH DUNNY.

One of England's greatest designers, PAUL SMITH, has teamed up with KIDROBOT to produce these limited edition 3" and 8" 'Dandy' Dunnys. Completely different in style from any other Dunny we've seen including the pinstripe box, this almost looks like a custom. The 8" is US$85 (limited to 1000) and the 3" comes 'free' with the purchase of a US$130 Paul Smith Tee. The Tees are available in an incredible (or ridiculously excessive) 45 different colour combos!

General opinion on this one is pretty split regarding the design, and although we're huge Paul Smith fans the price is definitely steep for an edition as large as 1000 pieces. Good to see Kidrobot still getting nothing but the best collaborators though...

HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

Minal aidin Wal faidzin!

A lot of our foreign readers may not realize this but today is Eid al-Fitr (spelling varies) the biggest holiday of the year for most Indonesians. It marks the end of a month of daytime fasting, and today's the day when people go pay their respects to relatives, friends and colleagues, which tends to involve a lot of car-time, driving from one house to another, politely grabbing a bite of the food on offer before rushing to the next venue...

This can be a pretty surreal experience, for me beginning early in the morning with a long drive to my grandfather-in-law's house in a small village outside Jakarta, and ending up many hours (and stops) later, giving best wishes to the President at the palace...

KIDROBOT WEBSITE.

In addition to the revamping of the stores in NYC and LA that they've been working on, KIDROBOT has just unveiled their brand new website...

Now considering that we keep promising to do some revamping of our own, you would think that seeing others doing it would spur us into action. Ha. We've got more important things like chillin', eating Pringles and watching pirate DVD's to do. So don't hold your breath, the "Temp blog site" has still got some life left in it yet.
