AF1 SINGAPORE.

To celebrate the AF1 25th anniversary, Nike recently set up a special temporary exhibition space at Clarke Quay in Singapore.

check the AF1 wallpaper

In addition to a large selection of classic special editions, they had pairs of the 'handmade in Italy' Masterpieces on show. Quality of these is incredible, blowing away anything the Adidas 35th anniversary's and anything made by Nike previously. Amazing attention to detail... until you check the packaging. US$2000 shoes, $2 box. (By the way, if you've got cash burning a hole in your pocket and want a pair, give us a shout...)

Thanks to Dennis for the private tour. And the gift... Lots more photos of the Masterpieces and other kicks on display will be up at FOOTURAMA later.

MMMM... DELICIOUS MARKETING.

Another inspired product tie-in... Homer Simpson follows in the footsteps of George Foreman and his "Lean Mean Grilling Machine" with the Home Donut Maker. As far as we're concerned, if it's endorsed by Homer, it's gotta be good, cos Homer KNOWS donuts.

Incredibly, George Foreman has made over US$150 million (doh!) from sales of his grill, so Homer could soon be giving Mr. Burns a run for his money. Literally. Well, as literally as is possible for a fictional 2D animated character...

NO-NO-NOTORIOUS.

Our friends at Notorious Fam are throwing a little shindig on the roof of our building this Sunday. Definitely unmissable - lots of cool work on show (including from our in-house creative Lisza!) and live installations by Darbotz and Kims to the background beats of Future 10 DJ's Mayo and Ditto. Anyway, what else are you going to do in Jakarta on a Sunday evening...

Still very few Notorious Fam T's available at 707ANNEX in Citos, but hopefully getting some replacement sizes/styles soon...

UPDATE!!
Due to the fantastic weather we've been having in Jakarta, and with this being an outdoor event, it has now been postponed until the following sunday (Feb 11th)... See you there.

POP-UP PLASMA.

Yeah, yeah, flat screen TV's in hotel rooms? Been there, done that, pretty common these days...

So, what's a hotel got to do to one-up the competition? Check this out from our suite at the MGM Signature. In addition to the huge flat screen in the living room, they had this in the bedroom. Going to be interesting when rock stars start throwing these out of hotel windows...

UNDEFEATED VEGAS.

Came across this while walking around in Vegas. Considering it was already the end of December the store is a bit behind schedule, or maybe the store is sooo super exclusive that they have nothing to sell and never unlock the door...

Rumors are that it's opening soon - looks like UNDEFEATED's unstoppable expansion continues...

2007. YEAR OF THE... AIR FORCE ONE.

the AF1 25th anniversary shopping bag

Nothing better than getting back from a trip to find a gift from NIKE waiting for you...

As any sneakerhead knows, 2007 is the 25th anniversary of the iconic Air Force One, a shoe that still moves millions of pairs every year. This is even more amazing considering that Nike refuses to do any advertising for it... Anyway, to commemorate this milestone, this year there are going to be a ton of special editions coming out, and I've got to thank the marvelous Miss P. and Nike for hooking me up with one of the first... Keep your eyes on 707ANNEX for lots of future exclusives...

check the 'ghost' image in the dots and embossed tissue

Supposedly there are only 10 pairs of these AF1 Supremes (Tier 0) in Southeast Asia (you rocking yours yet Mark?), and they're "born of the same DNA as the HTM AF1's of the past" - to quote the accompanying letter (not sure if these are HTM's or not...). Attention to detail is superb, check the 1982 embossing on the box, the embossing on the packing tissue, the lace tips, and the premium leather (it's like buttah)... Damn.

These will be on display in 707ANNEX next week... after they've spent some time on my feet.

"In 2007, Nike is celebrating the 25th year anniversary of the Air Force 1 in a variety of ways. One such way is to convey our sincere appreciation for your dedicated passion and ardent support for the Air Force 1 all these years.
At Nike, our quest to make products better never ends. With this in mind, the 25th year celebration of the AF1 was inspired by a single goal: to honor the brand's innovative past by taking into account the current needs of the athlete and improving and innovating on the product based on this insight.
Just as craftsmanship breeds authenticity, love leads to respect. A respect for the communities that have uplifted the Air Force 1.
Nike is honored to share this moment with you. Just as you have shown your love and understanding for this shoe, we would like you to continue the journey with us and experience the Air Force 1 like no other.
We ask you to join us in celebration and hope you enjoy this experience. One love."

THE BLOG IS BACK.

Finally, back in Jakarta after a pretty extended tour of the US and Japan over the past three and a half weeks. Regular blog posts will be back on again, along with a few shots from the trip...

Sorry for the lack of posts over the last few days - currently chillin' in the middle of nowhere in Arizona, but expect some good exclusive posts soon when we hit LA...

RUSSIAN INTELLIGENCE IS RATHER SCARY.

Just caught this shot of Russian president Vladimir Putin leaving the Russian Military Intelligence (GRU) headquarters. The marble batman symbol he's staring at is a copy of the GRU's crazy new logo. You KNOW you're in serious shit when a government agent confronts you, flips open his wallet, and shows a badge with a giant bat in the middle...

A FRIEND FOR THE HOLIDAYS.

approved for medical teaching by doctors worldwide

If you have no friends, just like us, KAWS will be releasing a couple of new 'dissected companions' sometime in December. Although shots of the monochrome have been floating around for a while now, the first photos of the black (allegedly, although possibly photoshopped) have just appeared courtesy of KIX-FILES.

The guys at AMBUSH/SURRENDER in Singapore will be getting a shipment of both soon... Better be quick, these are going to disappear as quickly as the first one, then you'll be alone for the holidays. Again.

SMELLS LIKE CHILD SPIRIT.

Before we discovered other substances to boost our creativity, there was Play-Doh. That distinctive aroma was definitely our first natural high :)

To celebrate Play-Doh's 50th anniversary, Hasbro, the brand's owners, have released a limited edition Eau de Play-Doh based on that special childhood memory.

Like Hasbro said on their website "Childhood memories last forever, but Play-Doh perfume is only available through the end of the year". A bargain at only 19 bucks a bottle? Go grab it before it's considered illegal.

PERFECT FOR BREAKFAST.

Approximately 11cm across, this Qing Dynasty bowl with a decorative painting of birds and trees across the outside just sold at auction for a world record US$19 million. That's dollars not rupiah. 19 million... Nine. Teen. Million.

Again, that's for a bowl. Admittedly a pretty good size for cereal, but still a bowl. And the price doesn't even include a spoon.

Maybe it's a MAGIC bowl?

SPEED RACER.

We like to imagine strolling into a high-powered business meeting, slamming this briefcase on the table, opening it up, then challenging our rivals to settle the deal with a race. (Ok, we admit it, that's how we got our Nike Quickstrike account...)

Pro-Idee's portable slot racing set is supposedly limited to 60 pieces and will cost about US$800.

FEAR IS NOT A FACTOR.

This has to be one of the best pieces of tie-in marketing we've seen. Fear Factor Candy. Designed to mimic the gross-out eating challenges of the show, these include Mystery Meat (best candy name EVER?), bloody frog's legs that crunch when you bite them, and octopuses in slime.

Love the irony of selling candy by making it as unappetizing as possible, although the choices look pretty similar to those served up regularly at mealtime over here in Indonesia. This is the country where we've sat down to dinner to find stewed bat sitting in a big bowl on the table...

TAG MONACO.

After showing off prototypes for quite a while, TAG HEUER has finally released images of the production version of its car-engine inspired Monaco V4 watch. The V4 is unique for being the first ever belt-driven wristwatch.

We're not convinced this really has any advantage over a traditional automatic watch movement, it sounds a bit like boasting about your new steam-engine powered laptop. Anyway, we're still impressed by the technical creativity that went into developing the movement, and aesthetically it looks pretty damn cool...

PAUL SMITH SKATES.

PAUL SMITH hooks up with Italian furniture makers BOTTEGA MONTANA for a limited edition longboard called the Corvetta. The quality of the wood and woodworking expertise used is pretty amazing - check the joints where the different pieces of wood connect... As with all their longboards, each is numbered and branded.

THE SWAPMEET RETURNS.

to see details, click for larger image

After a successful first outing, the FOOTURAMA swapmeet returns, bigger and better. We're happy to be involved again, drop by and check our stand. We'll be showing off some of the latest exclusives from 707ANNEX...

YONE LOVE.

Influential Japanese photographer Yonehara Yasumasa just held a retrospective at STAPLE DESIGN's Reed Space in NYC. We already got a preview look through Staple's spring/summer 2007 catalog that he shot, and it definitely supports his rep for taking original (and dodgy) photos of stunning girls. A few pages are up at Jeff Staple's site, and we may post a few later if we get the all clear...

Look out for Staple's spring collection in both 707 and 707ANNEX around february/march...

BOND BEGINS.

If you're looking for silhouettes of naked women flying in all directions (who isn't?), and super-retro graphics, you gotta check all the recent uploads of old Bond movie intros on Youtube.

Managing to be kitsch and stylish at the same time, on occasion the best part of the movie, and more often than not backed by classic songs... Nobody does it better.

Haven't seen the new 'improved' Bond yet, but if it's missing the traditional credit sequence it's getting an automatic two thumbs down.

{via CITY OF FILMS}

UPDATE: Saw Casino Royale. 7/10 for the movie. 2/10 for the intro. No naked silhouettes, animation looked like something made with Flash, and again, no naked silhouettes...

BRIT'S SINGLE. AND OBVIOUSLY AVAILABLE.

flava says "show 'em whatcha got"

Normally we're too sophisticated (ha, right...) to sink to the level of tabloid journalism, but not much else to report today... Seems Britney wants everyone to know she's back on the market. And gets regular waxing. And had a caesarian. And needs to work out.

You know you've sunk pretty low when Paris Hilton is trying to stop you from showing too much skin... and K-Fed starts to look like the better choice for custody of the kids.

For those with strong stomachs, the uncensored shots are at THE SUPERFICIAL.

NIKE FREE x ATMOS.

The Nike Free is not only a future classic (in our opinion) but also the most crazy comfortable sneaker we've ever worn. This collab between Nike and store/brand Atmos uses a unique 3M upper that reflects a snakeskin pattern under bright lighting, and takes the whole shebang one step further...

In 707ANNEX now.
