CHILLIN'.

Sorry for the lack of posts over the last few days - currently chillin' in the middle of nowhere in Arizona, but expect some good exclusive posts soon when we hit LA...

RUSSIAN INTELLIGENCE IS RATHER SCARY.

Just caught this shot of Russian president Vladimir Putin leaving the Russian Military Intelligence (GRU) headquarters. The marble batman symbol he's staring at is a copy of the GRU's crazy new logo. You KNOW you're in serious shit when a government agent confronts you, flips open his wallet, and shows a badge with a giant bat in the middle...

A FRIEND FOR THE HOLIDAYS.

approved for medical teaching by doctors worldwide

If you have no friends, just like us, KAWS will be releasing a couple of new 'dissected companions' sometime in December. Although shots of the monochrome have been floating around for a while now, the first photos of the black (allegedly, although possibly photoshopped) have just appeared courtesy of KIX-FILES.

The guys at AMBUSH/SURRENDER in Singapore will be getting a shipment of both soon... Better be quick, these are going to disappear as quickly as the first one, then you'll be alone for the holidays. Again.

SMELLS LIKE CHILD SPIRIT.

Before we discovered other substances to boost our creativity, there was Play-Doh. That distinctive aroma was definitely our first natural high :)

To celebrate Play-Doh's 50th anniversary, Hasbro, the brand's owners, have released a limited edition Eau de Play-Doh based on that special childhood memory.

Like Hasbro said on their website "Childhood memories last forever, but Play-Doh perfume is only available through the end of the year". A bargain at only 19 bucks a bottle? Go grab it before it's considered illegal.

PERFECT FOR BREAKFAST.

Approximately 11cm across, this Qing Dynasty bowl with a decorative painting of birds and trees across the outside just sold at auction for a world record US$19 million. That's dollars not rupiah. 19 million... Nine. Teen. Million.

Again, that's for a bowl. Admittedly a pretty good size for cereal, but still a bowl. And the price doesn't even include a spoon.

Maybe it's a MAGIC bowl?

SPEED RACER.

We like to imagine strolling into a high-powered business meeting, slamming this briefcase on the table, opening it up, then challenging our rivals to settle the deal with a race. (Ok, we admit it, that's how we got our Nike Quickstrike account...)

Pro-Idee's portable slot racing set is supposedly limited to 60 pieces and will cost about US$800.

FEAR IS NOT A FACTOR.

This has to be one of the best pieces of tie-in marketing we've seen. Fear Factor Candy. Designed to mimic the gross-out eating challenges of the show, these include Mystery Meat (best candy name EVER?), bloody frog's legs that crunch when you bite them, and octopuses in slime.

Love the irony of selling candy by making it as unappetizing as possible, although the choices look pretty similar to those served up regularly at mealtime over here in Indonesia. This is the country where we've sat down to dinner to find stewed bat sitting in a big bowl on the table...

TAG MONACO.

After showing off prototypes for quite a while, TAG HEUER has finally released images of the production version of its car-engine inspired Monaco V4 watch. The V4 is unique for being the first ever belt-driven wristwatch.

We're not convinced this really has any advantage over a traditional automatic watch movement, it sounds a bit like boasting about your new steam-engine powered laptop. Anyway, we're still impressed by the technical creativity that went into developing the movement, and aesthetically it looks pretty damn cool...

PAUL SMITH SKATES.

PAUL SMITH hooks up with Italian furniture makers BOTTEGA MONTANA for a limited edition longboard called the Corvetta. The quality of the wood and woodworking expertise used is pretty amazing - check the joints where the different pieces of wood connect... As with all their longboards, each is numbered and branded.

THE SWAPMEET RETURNS.

to see details, click for larger image

After a successful first outing, the FOOTURAMA swapmeet returns, bigger and better. We're happy to be involved again, drop by and check our stand. We'll be showing off some of the latest exclusives from 707ANNEX...

YONE LOVE.

Influential Japanese photographer Yonehara Yasumasa just held a retrospective at STAPLE DESIGN's Reed Space in NYC. We already got a preview look through Staple's spring/summer 2007 catalog that he shot, and it definitely supports his rep for taking original (and dodgy) photos of stunning girls. A few pages are up at Jeff Staple's site, and we may post a few later if we get the all clear...

Look out for Staple's spring collection in both 707 and 707ANNEX around february/march...
