ANYTHING FOR THE WEEKEND?
After what seemed like an eternity in Indonesian customs (including "we REALLY like these hats...hint,hint.")... the latest A NEW YORK THING will be in 707 Kemang from Saturday 18th at 12pm.
Including the infamous Neckface, Eyeball and Roach caps, Rub 'n' Tug and logo tees and more...

PAM COLAB EYEWEAR.
New eyewear brand COLAB are definitely taking the game to a new level. Sick of seeing the same repetitive and uninspired sunglass styles, they've started collaborating with artists around the world to produce limited edition designs that stand out from the norm.
Artists involved include Geoff McFetridge, Eboy, and our friends at Perks & Mini...
We've got two styles designed by Perks & Mini in stock.
The WEINER is in tortoiseshell with fake repair bandaging on the bridge and one arm.
The DAMAGE is in matt black, but the frame underneath is luminous pink, which becomes more visible as the black wears off over time...
The quality of the product and attention to detail is stunning, especially for a new brand - they're almost worth buying for the packaging alone. Of course quality comes with a price, but then so does individuality...
In store this weekend. Very limited stock. For more info, check NYLON, COOL HUNTING and the usual suspects...

BEAT THE HEAT.
For a better idea of the kind of desperate measures Tokyoites are willing to go to in order to escape the heat, check this photo of a popular wave pool... Even better, check the YouTube video to see the surreal human wave.
Guess the Japanese have a slightly different definition of 'overcrowded' than we do... Personally we think it would have been cool if right after the wave machine started, trap doors suddenly opened up to release the sharks with laser beams on their heads... Another great opportunity for laughs and hi-jinks wasted...

IT ISN'T THE FALL THAT KILLS YOU.
Like they say, it isn't the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop at the end...
This has to win the prize for greatest skateboarding bail of all time.

VIRTUALLY REALITY.
Until now computer generated animated films have mostly been aimed at the younger market, featuring stylized main characters. Comparing Beowulf to Toy Story from 10 years ago shows how far graphics and kinematics have progressed. Easy to believe it won't be long before actors don't even need to be on set...
Looking at the previews from the recent E3 electronics expo shows that video game graphics are also jumping ahead pretty quickly. Gotta remember too, these graphics are rendered on-the-fly at 30-60 frames per second, not over hours using banks of computers...
Having said all this, as Pixar's latest, Ratatouille, or tennis on the Wii successfully show, realistic graphics aren't everything...
