NIKE x JAPAN.

Here at 707 we're suckers for anything related to Japan (being half-Japanese might have something to do with it) so it's great to see that Nike's into celebrating Japanese culture these days... Just arrived in store; the Airmax 360 from the Koinoburi Pack. The design reflects the fish-shaped kites called Koinoburi (Koi means carp) flown every year in Japan to celebrate their children's day holiday.

The top of the Airmax is all in reflective 3M with a graphic fish-scale print (repeated on the insole) with purple and blue accents, and a subtle irridescent black (changes colour at different angles) around the edge... Exclusive to 707 and 707ANNEX in Indonesia Rp. 1.799.000, stocks limited...

Also in, the special edition 10AC Nike Free 5.0. Designed as part of a martial art collection for MMA fighter Caol Uno, it has an all-over semi-gloss white finish and subtle detailing... Again exclusive to 707 and 707ANNEX... (thanks to FRESHNESS for images)

Next to drop will be the Kakigori (shaved ice) pack, named after a popular summer ice-dessert in Japan - we should have the Airmax 1 and Court Force... Images soon..

OLD LOVE, NEW LOVE.

The amazing Air Jordan I "Beginning Moments" double pack just released in most regions this week and has been selling out in record time (already hitting US$375 for some sizes at Flight Club). Love the colourways, and the gum sole on the yellow pair is incredible. Just thought we'd mention it. May be worth keeping an eye on this blog...

THANKS.

Many, many thanks to D. at Nike Singapore and the elegant Ms. P in Indo for these latest gifts... Both are premium models specially released for the AF1 25th anniversary. The mid-grey ones are super-clean and one of the best AF1 colourways we've ever seen. The dark grey and red are the 'Moses Malone' version taken from the 'Original Six' series. This series is in honour of the six players in the dream team that Nike put together to promote the Air Force 1 when originally released.

The 'Original Six' are now available at the Nike Members Only store and soon at 707ANNEX.

AF1 SINGAPORE.

To celebrate the AF1 25th anniversary, Nike recently set up a special temporary exhibition space at Clarke Quay in Singapore.

check the AF1 wallpaper

In addition to a large selection of classic special editions, they had pairs of the 'handmade in Italy' Masterpieces on show. Quality of these is incredible, blowing away anything the Adidas 35th anniversary's and anything made by Nike previously. Amazing attention to detail... until you check the packaging. US$2000 shoes, $2 box. (By the way, if you've got cash burning a hole in your pocket and want a pair, give us a shout...)

Thanks to Dennis for the private tour. And the gift... Lots more photos of the Masterpieces and other kicks on display will be up at FOOTURAMA later.

2007. YEAR OF THE... AIR FORCE ONE.

the AF1 25th anniversary shopping bag

Nothing better than getting back from a trip to find a gift from NIKE waiting for you...

As any sneakerhead knows, 2007 is the 25th anniversary of the iconic Air Force One, a shoe that still moves millions of pairs every year. This is even more amazing considering that Nike refuses to do any advertising for it... Anyway, to commemorate this milestone, this year there are going to be a ton of special editions coming out, and I've got to thank the marvelous Miss P. and Nike for hooking me up with one of the first... Keep your eyes on 707ANNEX for lots of future exclusives...

check the 'ghost' image in the dots and embossed tissue

Supposedly there are only 10 pairs of these AF1 Supremes (Tier 0) in Southeast Asia (you rocking yours yet Mark?), and they're "born of the same DNA as the HTM AF1's of the past" - to quote the accompanying letter (not sure if these are HTM's or not...). Attention to detail is superb, check the 1982 embossing on the box, the embossing on the packing tissue, the lace tips, and the premium leather (it's like buttah)... Damn.

These will be on display in 707ANNEX next week... after they've spent some time on my feet.

"In 2007, Nike is celebrating the 25th year anniversary of the Air Force 1 in a variety of ways. One such way is to convey our sincere appreciation for your dedicated passion and ardent support for the Air Force 1 all these years.
At Nike, our quest to make products better never ends. With this in mind, the 25th year celebration of the AF1 was inspired by a single goal: to honor the brand's innovative past by taking into account the current needs of the athlete and improving and innovating on the product based on this insight.
Just as craftsmanship breeds authenticity, love leads to respect. A respect for the communities that have uplifted the Air Force 1.
Nike is honored to share this moment with you. Just as you have shown your love and understanding for this shoe, we would like you to continue the journey with us and experience the Air Force 1 like no other.
We ask you to join us in celebration and hope you enjoy this experience. One love."

NIKE FREE x ATMOS.

The Nike Free is not only a future classic (in our opinion) but also the most crazy comfortable sneaker we've ever worn. This collab between Nike and store/brand Atmos uses a unique 3M upper that reflects a snakeskin pattern under bright lighting, and takes the whole shebang one step further...

In 707ANNEX now.

NIKE. ONE TIME ONLY.

Airmax 360 with polka dots by Hiroshi Fujiwara

This incredible range of very limited edition shoes from NIKE will never be released again. For the first (and last time), Nike has taken the sole from their current top running shoe, the AIRMAX 360, and attached it to three classic AIRMAX's from the past. We have two ranges. The classic range attaches the 360 sole to the original colourways of the AIRMAX 90, AIRMAX 95, AIRMAX 97 and the original 360. The clerks range uses the colourways (and materials) from the popular special edition clerks pack of shoes released recently. Both ranges have been selling out immediately everywhere they drop, and are already going for premiums on ebay. We start selling when we open at 11am on Saturday, November 18th.

These are only released in two stores in Southeast Asia. Stocks are extremely limited. Official Nike retail price is 1,799,000 Rp.

PSSST. WANNA BUY AN SBTG CUSTOM?

SBTG x 707 "Juvenile Delinquent" Dunk with custom box.

People keep asking whether we have any more of the SBTG Custom "Juvenile Delinquent" Dunks (or the 'package') that were made for our 707ANNEX event...

C'mon, everyone knows we sold out... or did we?...

Ok, we admit it. We did keep one package for ourselves in our secret underground vault;

1 SBTG x 707 Custom Dunk (sz 9)
1 Nike SBTG Dunk SB (sz 9)
1 Nike SBTG special edition reversible Tee (L)

We kept this to be used for display in the store, but will put it on sale later in November! For info on where and how, keep checking this site and your inside info emails.

All other pairs sold out immediately, BUT, one size 10.5 has been held but not paid for - if you're interested, email us! (This is not a package, only the SBTG Custom.)

JORDAN & TINKER. LONDON.

A few shots of the dynamic duo when they were in London, taken by our intrepid undercover reporter, Bergas. Unfortunately no signing session - even name-dropping 707 somehow didn't work... Funny how it never seems to help...

For more shots, check FOOTURAMA.

JORDAN & TINKER AIMENT PARIS.

Our friends at BKRW (Black Rainbow Extraordinaire Mag) have just posted coverage of MJ and Tinker Hatfield's current Paris visit for the start of the Jordan Europe Tour 2006. TH is Nike's Vice President of Innovation, the designer of every Air Jordan from III to XV, and the guy who oversees ALL the special design projects...

Anyone into sneakers or design should check out the TH breakfast interview session. This was MC'd by Thibault de Longeville (director of Just for Kicks) and has some great insights into how TH is inspired, and the design of future and past products. A glimpse into the mind of an icon of sneaker culture. (Also check his kicks...)

SBTG PICS.

Seats. Smart thinking.

240 million people.
14,000 islands.
580 dialects.
And a capital city larger than NYC, London or Tokyo... It's about time Indonesia had its own Nike Special Edition sneaker launch...

SBTG x 707 "Juvenile Delinquent" with custom box.

For many sneaker heads, this was their chance to be a part of local sneaker history. For those abroad who experience special releases regularly it's probably hard to understand how elated many local collectors were to finally be getting recognition after reading about these events elsewhere for so long...

First through the door

By the time the doors were opened at 7.07 PM there was a line of almost 200 people outside, with those at the front having slept overnight. In addition to the Nike SBTG Dunk SB, we had 5 pairs of hand-painted customs made by SBTG especially for 707ANNEX incorporating our house colours of black and pink (and military stripes altered to look like a '707'), and limited edition T's by 707 with Indonesian graf artist Darbotz. We also gave out free prizes of Nike x SBTG reversible signed T's and SBTG lace locks.

707ANNEX crew with SBTG and Darbotz

Buyers were let in 5 at a time, and all were given time to chat with Mark (SBTG) and get whatever they wanted signed. Darbotz was also on hand to add his signature to the T's he designed.

Having never encountered the concept of people lining for sneakers, there was crazy media coverage, including various radio stations, major newspapers and TV, with SBTG getting interviewed by everyone from streetstyle mag 'JUICE' through to 'Harper's Bazaar' (!).

Thanks to all who helped us at 707ANNEX put this event together and promote it, and especially thanks to all those who supported it by joining the line and showing that sneaker madness and urban culture are alive and kicking in the world's fourth largest country!!

Thanks to Adi for displaying his SBTG collection!

707 x DARBOTZ T. SBTG EDITION.

A couple of shots of the 707 x Darbotz T that we produced for the SBTG event. The T has a Darbotz graphic on the front printed in a dirty white with different types of inks used for different parts. When you wash the shirt, the grey 'splatters' will fade faster than the rest. Interior has a 'black on black' print with a Tribe Called Quest quote, and all internal stitching is in 707 pink. In addition the date of the event is embroidered in black thread on the back lower corner of the T...

Even the cut of the shirt is custom to a pattern from 707 designers - nothing but the best, nulli secundum baby... Glad to see that people appreciated the cost and effort of producing this T, they sold like hotcakes on the day (although the fact that every buyer is automatically entered into a draw for a free pair of SBTG Dunks might've helped).
