SOHO UNIQLO.

Don't think it's open yet (anyone got more details?), but supposed to open this fall, is the new UNIQLO store in SOHO, NYC. Uniqlo is similar to a Japanese version of Old Navy, selling basic clothing in a zillion colours at super-cheap prices. Since opening its first store in 1984 its been a phenomenon in Japan, quickly growing to become the largest casual store chain with over 500 outlets... The store in SOHO is going to be its global flagship.

Anyway, although we're not the biggest buyers of Uniqlo clothing (except for the boxer shorts which we buy in bulk - little too much info maybe), we still can't wait to visit the NYC store to see what the wizards at design firm WONDERWALL have done with the interior. If you don't know Wonderwall, they're the ones responsible for all the Bathing Ape stores worldwide as well as the slick See by Chloe store in Tokyo.

Aside from the new Soho store, Uniqlo has already been dropping their temporary shipping container stores in various locations... Cool idea (although it's been done before), not convinced about the implementation.
